Considering the difficult economic environment, the procedure to grant licenses in the Swiss Football League (SFL) for season 2010/2011, was rather favorable: only four clubs did not receive, in first instance, the license approval, by the Licensing Commission of the SFL. In previous seasons the number of clubs not fulfilling the requirements was between six and eight.

The license II is valid for ASL and it is solicited for the participating clubs of the Challenge League (ChL) which are candidates for promotion. License III, is only concerning the clubs from ChL.
Moreover, License IV cannot be granted for the clubs promoted from First League to ChL. The candidates to this promotion will receive the decisions in first instance from the Licensing Commission on 21 April 2010.
