Representatives from the Professional Football League (LFP), Basketball Association of Clubs (ACB), Futsal National League (LNFS) and Handball Association of Clubs (ASOBAL) approved the statute of the Association of Spanish Professional Leagues and appointed Eduardo Portela Marín (ACB) as President, José Luis Astiazarán Iriondo (LFP) as Vice-President, Carlos Gascón Moreno (LNFS) as Treasurer and Ricard Hijós González (ASOBAL) as General Secretary.
Within the same context, the Spanish Leagues identified and ratified the auto regulation and organisation of profesional competitions, the set of a specific sport anti-fraud legislation, the fiscal specificity of profesional sport and the exploitation of leagues’ intelectual property rights as main objectives of the new created Association. In addition, Leagues’ representatives evaluated the opportunity to meet the Spanish Parliament Professional Sport Sub –Committee.
The meeting took place on Friday 8th of May at ASOBAL while the LFP office in Madrid has been selected as the new Association’s headquarter.
