The Swedish Elite Football Association (SEF) has developed a comprehensive strategic plan for the next five years. Among other objectives set by this plan, its aims include: to create a Nordic Pan-region Premier League; and to double the League’s revenue for the clubs of the Allsvenskan and Superettan (the Swedish Premier and First Division Leagues respectively).
In this framework, the recruitment of Mats Enquist is just a first step in the realization of these ambitious projects. Mr Enquist will succeed Tommy Theorin, who was to retire in 2012 but will instead remain within the SEF with specific development assignments.
“We have done a thorough recruitment process, based on our needs and projects. Mats Enquist has a very good profile with a broad business experience in senior positions for both listed and private companies. He has also gained experience in the world of sports, having been General Secretary of the Swedish Golf Federation”, said Bosse Johansson, Chairman of the SEF.
Mats Enquist assumed his role as SEF CEO on 16 January 2012.
“This is a very interesting challenge”, affirmed Mats Enquist. “Football is the National and most popular Sport in Sweden. I look forward to working to strengthen the support to our clubs and their activities”, he concluded.
