Transfer window, opened on August 1st, was closed on Wednesday and saw some big football names coming to Russian Football Premier League.
Anzhi Makhachkala had the most impressive summer campaign: the deal bringing Cameroonian star-striker Samuel Eto’o to southern club from Inter Milan became one of the biggest in Europe. The return of Yuri Zhirkov to Russian Premier League in a 4-year deal from Chelsea was also a highlight of transfer summer. Hungarian-international midfielder Balazs Dzsudzsak from PSV and Moroccan Mehdi Carcela-Gonzalez from Standard Liege were another additions to Anzhi who are battling for European cups this season.
Reigning champions Zenit from Saint Petersburg added to their squad before Italian international full-back Domenico Criscito before their start in Champions League. Also, Alessandro Rosina and Michael Lumb returned to club from loan.
Vice-champions CSKA Moscow substituted injured goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev by Russian international Vladimir Gabulov, taken on loan from Anzhi.
Rubin signed a 3-year contract with Paraguayan striker Nelson Valdez. In addition, Obafemi Martins returned back in Kazan club from loan in Birmingham City.
Spartak Moscow signed Dutch midfielder Demy de Zeeuw, who came from Ajax and Nigerian striker Emmanuel Emenike from Fenerbahce.
Lokomotiv from Moscow added to the list few foreign players, which played in well-known European clubs: Spanish midfielder Alberto Zapater( Sporting Lisbon), Ecuadorian striker Felipe Caicedo (Levante), Portuguese central defender Manuel da Costa (West Ham United), Nigerian winger Victor Obinna (West Ham United).
Croatian goalkeeper Stipe Pletikosa signed 2-year contract with FC Rostov. Moreover, Rostov-on-Don club bought Argentine striker Hector Bracamonte from Terek.
