President Message

Sergey Pryadkin

Russian Premier League is one of the most rapidly growing football Leagues in Europe and I suppose the best one in Eastern Europe. I’m absolutely sure that our affiliation and membership in EPFL family led to the rapid development of the Russian football. I am sure of that our collaboration will enhance sports on Europe. Together we can do it!

History

Russian Football Premier League (RFPL) was established in 2001 by the unity of 16 top clubs. For these ten years RFPL has made a huge step in competition management, marketing policy, merchandising, selling of media rights and etc.

Due to the fact of permanent development and enhancing of managing policy Regulations presume General Assembly represented by all 16 clubs as the supreme body of the League and no financial, sports, marketing decision can be made without approval of GA. President of the League is elected by GA for the term of not less than a year. Mr. Sergey Pryadkin – the President of RFPL since 14 November 2007 was elected for new five-year term in September 2010.

Four teams won Russian Championship since Premier League was established – CSKA Moscow (2003, 2005, 2006), Lokomotiv Moscow (2002, 2004), Zenit Saint Petersburg (2007,2010) and Rubin Kazan (2008, 2009). Two of these teams – CSKA and Zenit won UEFA Cup in 2005 and 2008 year that was the result of the rapid development of the Championship’s level.  The main sponsors and partners of the League are Sogaz, Pepsi,  Canon, Megafon, Adidas. The official broadcaster is NTV-PLUS.

From the 2012/2013 season Russian Championship will be played in a common European system starting at the end of summer and finishing in May.

“Luzhniki” is called the best Russian stadium with the capacity of more than 84 000 and can be proud by Champions League Final of 2008 and UEFA Cup Final of 1999.
