In front of an audience of about 50,000 enthusiastic fans the team captain of FC Porto, Bruno Alves, received the Liga Sagres champion trophy on Sunday 24th May, before the last championship match was played at the Dragão Stadium vs. Braga.

FC Porto is the first club to win the new Liga Sagres Trophy, created by designer Pedro Gonçalves  from McCann agency and produced by the Portuguese company Atlantis.

This Trophy, made of crystal and gilded brass, weighs 10 kg, is 80 cm height and has a 28.1 cm diameter. Its shape is a combination of a “beer cup made of crystal, engraved with Sagres symbol, known as quinas (five small blue shields),  and a cup, with a football sphere in its lower part”, underlined Nuno Teles, marketing director of the league’s sponsor, Sociedade Central de Cervejas.

The Liga Vitalis champion, Olhanense, also received its trophy on Sunday at the Jose Arcanjo Stadium, in Olhão , where thousands of fans congratulated the team that returns to the top division in a festive environment. The promotion of Olhanense allows Algarve Region to have a Club in the main division of Portuguese football.
