League President Dr. Reinhard Rauball and the CEO of the adidas Group Herbert Hainer presented the first official match ball in the history of the Bundesliga during a visit to the German national team at their base in Pretoria on June 15th. The design is centred around the official Bundesliga colours of red and white and features the official competition logo. The ball, which will be used for the first time on 7th August when FC Bayern München play FC Schalke 04 for the Supercup, has been given the name “Torfabrik” (“Goal factory”) and will be on sale from July 1st.
“The introduction of an official match ball is a big step forward for the Bundesliga. We are creating fair competition conditions and making the Bundesliga brand more tangible. Now, all fans have the chance to take a piece of the Bundesliga home with them,” said Dr. Reinhard Rauball.
“With the new ball, adidas is underlining its position as the world’s number one football brand. ‘Torfabrik’ is giving the adidas brand an excellent opportunity to reinforce its presence in the important domestic market in Germany – and beyond,” added Herbert Hainer, CEO of the adidas Group.
Adidas acquired the licensing rights within an open, transparent and non-discriminatory tender procedure.
