Every Bundesliga season sees records broken and new best marks set and this time around will be no exception. We take a look at some of the milestones set to be passed this season - by the clubs, and by the league itself.
There are certainly a few interesting ones looming: Werder Bremen will be the second club to break the 1,500-game mark on matchday 8; two rounds later, Bayer 04 Leverkusen will rack up their 1,000th match in the Bundesliga.
Hertha BSC are just one victory short of their 250th home win. Hannover 96 have to score another 49 goals to hit the 1,000 mark. And 1. FC Köln, too, have a milestone in their sights. The "Billy Goats" are currently on 1,989 points in the Bundesliga (with points from the old 2-points-for-a-win system having been converted).
That leaves them just three wins and two draws short of the 2,000 mark. VfL Wolfsburg have proved an avid collector of points in their still young Bundesliga history: the "Wolves" need just one more victory to hit the 500 points total.
An unavoidable statistic is meanwhile about to overtake Borussia Mönchengladbach. The newly promoted club have so far conceded 1,999 goals in the Bundesliga. And for all their best efforts, number 2,000th cannot be far off now. As the record book shows, no team in Bundesliga history has conceded less than 21 goals during one season.
The Bundesliga itself will meanwhile pass a milestone all of its own this season, with the 14,000th match kicking off on matchday 22. This will undoubtedly be a Bundesliga season of tumbling records.
