The Football League can confirm that Lord Mawhinney will officially stand down from his role as Chairman on Wednesday 7th April 2010.
The announcement was made at Monday's quarterly club meeting held at Walsall's Banks's Stadium and brings down the curtain on Lord Mawhinney's seven successful years at the helm of The Football League.
Greg Clarke will take over as Chairman of The Football League with effect from Thursday 8th April and will chair his first Board meeting the same day.
Also at yesterday's meeting, League clubs voted unanimously to install Lord Mawhinney as Honorary President of The Football League.
