
Mário Figueiredo, 45, is the successor of Fernando Gomes as President of the Liga Portuguesa de Futebol Profissional. In a meeting held on Thursday 12 January 2012, Figueiredo outvoted his opponent Antonio Laranjo by 27 to 21 votes.
The newly-elected President will lead the League until June 2014. Other league authorities were also decided through the elections, appointing André Dinis de Cavalho as President of the General Assembly, while Júlio Vieira Gomes has been elected to chair the Disciplinary Commission.
