Recently the Board of Directors of this League has approved an initiative of utmost importance: the “Lega Pro Supporter’s Card”.
In recent years we have witnessed a considerable increase of some bannings to some sectors of the stadiums for the supporters, decided by the Public Authorities.
These prohibitions have been decreed by the Osservatorio Nazionale sulle Manifestazioni Sportive (National Observatory on Sport Events of the Ministry of Interior), a body which has the assignment to prevent accidents among opposite Clubs’ supporters on the occasion of football matches.
In such perspective, last April the Osservatorio has decreed the obligation, for 1st and 2nd Division Clubs, to bring their stadiums into compliance and to arrange – even for smallest ones –access controls by means of nominal tickets, palmtops, etc.
In order to facilitate supporters’ participation to football matches in such stadiums, the Lega Pro Board of Directors has approved the institution of the “Lega Pro Supporter’s Card”, which will allow to possessors the access to all stadiums within the national territory, even in presence of interceptions and limitations.
Such card will have the function of both supporter’s card and VISA rechargeable credit card (prepaid card) and will contain the Team’s name printed on it with a thermic technique.
Card owners will be allowed – by prior purchase of appropriate title - to accede to all nationwide sports facilities. Furthermore, in anticipation of the facilities to be brought into compliance, owners will be allowed to accede to those matches for which interceptions and limitations have been adopted as well.
In addition to its primary function the Card can be used as a normal prepaid credit card in shops that accept VISA:
- for online shopping;
- for cash withdrawal;
- to recharge a prepaid GSM mobile card;
- to pay bills, mobile phone top ups, etc.
- It can be recharged in banks, post offices or by means of another credit card or bancomat (cash card).
It is intended to:
develop customer loyalty programs;
establish an own circuit by offering to employees, customers and retailers a means of community as well as a means to accede to exclusive offers.
The initiative has generated a remarkable interest and has been approved by the Osservatorio Nazionale sulle Manifestazioni Sportive itself.
Currently informative meetings for the Teams are under way; moreover, further supporters loyalty and/or marketing initiatives are being detected in order to make the Supporter’s Card initiative – which is going to be officially introduced during the 2009/2010 Championship – even more attractive.
