The AFE, CSD, RFEF and LFP met to solve the problem.
The Spanish Footballers' Association (AFE) has called off the proposed strike planned for this weekend, which would have affected all categories of Spanish football including the Liga BBVA and the Liga Adelante.
The announcement was made this evening on 13 April 2010 after the meeting involving, AFE, Spanish State Sports Council (CSD), Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and the Spanish Professional Football League (LFP) at the governmental organization’s headquarters.
The meeting involved the follow up on the issues already discussed on Monday, 12 April 2010, and significant advances were made during this second session. In both cases, the mediation and commitment of the CSD and its President, Jaime Lissavetzky, together with the constructive nature offered by the four bodies involved, the call for dialogue and the collective aim to reach a definitive agreement, have been fundamental to avoid a highly unpleasant situation, by guaranteeing the footballers’ salaries and the stability of the implicated competitions.
