OSLO, 30 June 2010 - The EPFL CEO Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros and his homologous of the Norwegian and Swedish Leagues, respectively Niels Roine and Tommy Theorin, and other high-level representatives of the Norsk Toppfotball, including the Chairman Ernst Ravnaas, have concluded an intensive working session this week in Oslo.
The working meeting enabled all parties to address the most pressing challenges facing Professional Football in the Nordic countries and how the EPFL can further assit in driving the necessary reforms in several vital areas. Youth development, financial sustainability, safety and security in and around footbal matches and media and marketing matters were some of the items under the spot light.
In order to include in this important discussion the Danish and Finnish Leagues, it was agreed to promote an EPFL - Scandinavian Leagues Football Summit, open to all their affliated clubs. The event shall take place in Copenhagen on 10-11 January 2011.
During his short but fruitfull working visit, the EPFL Executive had also the opportunity to attend a footabll match between Tronso (current runner-up in the Norwegian Premiership with the same points of the leader Rosenborg) and Bode Glimt, which the home-team won for 2-1, under the influence of the Midnight Sun.
