Veikkausliiga’s Chairman Hannu Rautiainen, states that Jan Walden has left a legacy that will leave the organisation stable for the upcoming years.

“Jan informed me of its decision in early March. At that time, I asked him to continue until the end of the season, since the league was running and involved in important matters, and Jan's skills were definitely needed. Now that the problems are solved, Jan leaves behind the basics for stability in Veikkausliiga . We are very grateful for what Jan did during all the years and the invaluable importance of the contribution which he has dedicated to Veikkausliiga",says Rautiainen .

Also sad to leave the CEO believes in an integrated League as whole.

“Recent years have brought a number of complex indicators to Veikkausliiga. Despite everything, the League was able to develop a strong unity and it has been able to build up solid and long-term strategy, allowing us to continune, regardless of the difficult situation in several areas of operation. I believe that this is the right time to move forward", he says.

Walden does not have specific plans for the future relationship with the League.

“I am still a Veikkausliiga employee and available to reassign the functions to the new CEO to be hired”, Walden says.

“Of course feel sad to leave. Veikkausliiga has been an important part of my life.”

Veikkausliiga will accept new applications for the CEO position immediately and will inform the candidates on how to proceed in the near future.
