On the 1-2 July 2011, the Football Supporters Europe (FSE) organized the 4th European Football Fans Congress, in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The Congress, which counted with the presence of around 300 football fans from over 30 countries, discussed the concrete topics of Fans and the media, Football and violence, Good hosting of fans and preparations for Euro 2012.
On this occasion, the EPFL, represented by Pedro Presa Rodrigues, Communication and Research Administrator, was invited to present on the workshop ”The never-ending "English Disease"? A reality check on violence in football”, where he explained the Association’s recommendations and its current and future activities to support the fight to prevent violent incidents, inside and in the surroundings of stadiums, during, before and after football matches. The workshop was chaired by Kristian Rasmussen, Scientist at the University of Aarhus in Denmark and also counted with the participation of Jonas Gabler, Scientist and author of the book “Ultra Culture” from Germany, and Bojan Branisavljevic, leader of the White Angels NK Zagreb supporters group from Croatia. The interesting discussions between the speakers and the audience, led to proposals for concrete actions to be developed by the FSE during the upcoming football season.
The congress also welcomed speakers from the Council of Europe, UEFA, the Danish League, Brondby IF and the head of the football police unit in Copenhagen.
