
January is the month for Ekstraklasa clubs to start preparations for the spring. It is also an excellent opportunity to exchange comments and reflections on the League within the group of professionals that represent all clubs’ training staff. This Ekstraklasa SA initiative, was held in Warsaw on 14 January 2010.
During the meeting, coaches discussed in detail the plans for Ekstraklasa seasons 2010/2011 and 2011/2012.
The fixtures for season this coming season have been approved in early December 2009. It takes into account all the guidelines of UEFA and the international calendar. The schedule has been prepared to maximize all weekend dates. Next season Ekstraklasa will start on the weekend of the 6-8 August and will end on 29 May, 2011.
During the presentation of season 2011/2012 timetable the Euro 2012 had to be taken into consideration since the League needs to be finished one month prior to the event. All league competitions will have to be completed by 8 May 2010.
During the discussion, all Ekstraklasa coaches have pointed out the very long break between the end of the season on Spring and its beginning on Autumn. It was agreed that on the upcoming years this stoppage period should be gradually shortened. However, to achieve such objective "it is necessary to improve not only the stadiums’ infrastructures, but also all training facilities"- said the Director of the Department of Games’ Logistics of Ekstraklasa SA, Marcin Stefanski.
Coaches also pointed out the fact that Polish Clubs are not having the needed amount of professional matches during the season. In conclusion: The Ekstraklasa Cup that was suspended for season 2009/2010 shall return to the calendar. Coaches were also asked to submit their proposals for possible changes in the regulations and in the Ekstraklasa Young Cup.
