The DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga GmbH has completed the first stage of its review process of playing licences for the coming season.
As has invariably been the case in recent years, no professional club has been denied permission to play in the next campaign. This decision is however dependent on the respective clubs complying with certain stipulations by the start of June. Over and above this, a number of applicant clubs will have to fulfill further conditions pertaining to the various criteria involved in the licensing process.
"All-in-all, we can report that the clubs have adapted well to what has become a more difficult environment. This is evidenced by the fact that considerably fewer clubs and capital companies have been issued with conditions for the coming season", DFL Chief Financial Officer Christian Müller explained, adding that, "A noticeable off-shoot of the ongoing professionalisation of management is a definite improvement to the infrastructure of the football academies and stadiums. This applies particularly with regard to matters of safety, comfort and media tecnology."
In all, 48 clubs and capital companies from the Bundesliga, the 2. Bundesliga and the Third Division are participating in the licence application process. The DFL examines the economic performance of each club and company as well as matters pertaining to infrastructure, law, administration, media technology and sport as defined in the licensing regulations.
