The LFP has announced the Champions Trophy will take place in the Canadian city of Montreal next summer - the first time that the traditional season curtain-raiser has been played outside of France.
"It's time for French football to conquer new markets," said LFP president Frédéric Thiriez to explain the decision. "As we've managed to double the revenue for our TV rights in foreign countries in a year, the idea of playing the Champions Trophy abroad was obvious.
"Montreal is the ideal entrance into North America. We're happy to be able to share this initial experiment with our Canadian friends."
Ligue 2 side Guingamp, who won the French Cup by beating Rennes last weekend, will play the winner of the Ligue 1 title on 26 July at 21:00 Central European Time.
