Austrian Bundesliga players in action

The Austrian-pot, which promotes the use of young Austrian players in the tipp3 Bundesliga powered by T-Mobile clubs, continues to have a positive impact after three-quarters of the 2009/10 season.

The percentage of Austrian young players playing in the Austrian Bundesliga rose in comparison with the previous quarters of the season (1st quarter: 60.7, 2nd quarter: 63.7 percent) reaching 64.4 per cent.

The Clubs with the highest rates include SV Josko Ried and FC Magna Wr. Neustad. It is remarkable to underline thatour clubs have at least 70 percent of Austrians share (see table below).

Youngsters in action
This initiative encourages clubs to use young Austrian players. In first half of this season, almost a quarter (22.2 percent) of players used were Austrian players under the age of 23 years, of which 10.9 percent and 2.6 percent were  U-21 and U-19 accordingly.

Rapid,  Puntigamer  Sturm Graz and Red Bull Salzburg have the top attendances  so far(see table).

Rules of Austrian-pot

According to the rules, each club must have at least twelve players holding Austrian citizenship at the match, in order for them to be rewarded. Depending on the minutes of play, the awards can reach around  €5 million.

The use of U-21 players with Austrian citizenship will be particularly rewarded. Their minutes of play will count twice.
