LPFP conference on the Future of the Portuguese Sports Betting Market

The Portuguese Football League (LPFP) organized a Conference about the upcoming chances of a regulated online gaming market, the first of its kind held in Portugal, on 10th February 2010.
The objective of this event was to initiate a facts-based discussion on the advantages of a regulated online gaming framework taking into consideration today’s market reality and status of technical development.

The event looked at the experiences in this sector in different EU Member States from a general, financial, sports related and responsible gaming perspective. It provided also the opportunity to exchange views and contribute in a pro-active way to a constructive dialogue in the interest of all stakeholders.

Overall, It was centered in three blocks:
         
- Paving the way to online sports betting regulation
- Financial assets of the online gaming industry
- Sports and bookmaking: A question of responsibility

The International conference has been closed by the LIGA PORTUGAL President, Hermínio Loureiro, and by they exceptional intervention of Mr. Laurentino Dias, Secretary of State for Sport and Youth of Portugal.
