LFP and Spanish FA reach agreement

A new agreement was signed on Monday, 26 January 2010, between the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and the Spanish Professional Football League (LFP). The agreement will enhance relations between both organizations over the next four years.

The new arrangement, studies the possibility of staging Liga BBVA matches on Mondays and Fridays, as requested by a number of clubs as long as those fixtures do not interfere with ones involving the Spanish National Team the Under-21.

The Spanish Professional Football League General Extraordinary Assembly convened on, Tuesday, 2 February 2010, and reached a majority vote in favor of the coordination agreement proposed in conjunction with the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) on 26 January 2010.

The agreement, which will last until 2014, but with the possibility of an extension until 2018, establishes the viability of staging Liga BBVA and Liga Adelante matches on Mondays and Fridays, except in circumstances that might affect Spain’s senior national and Under-21 teams .
