On occasion of the General Assembly of December 21, the LFP approved the accounts for the 2008-2009 season.
These accounts are marked by an increase of 26 million (+3.6%) in turnover amounting to 745 million . This increase in revenues is due to the first year of implementation of audiovisual contracts signed for 4 years with Canal + and Orange for the national rights and Canal + France Events for the international rights.
The proceeds distributed to the clubs reached a record of 615.3 M , up by 10.7 M . in comparison with the previous figure.
The levy for the Buffet Tax, in benefit of amateur sport, amounted to 34.6 million an increase of 2.1 million. Since 1 July 2008, mobile rights and foreign rights are also subject to the Buffet Tax.
The commitments of solidarity to grassroots football with input from professional football are maintained at 22.4 million under the new financial protocol FFF / LFP signed for two seasons.
The year 2008-2009 ended with a net profit of 0.9 million.
Jacques Wattez elected to the Board of Directors
The General Assembly renewed a position for the LFP Board of Directors. Jacques Watts, President of the U.S. Boulogne Cote d'Opale, was elected as a member of the College of Ligue 1.
