LFP attend EU Sports Forum

 

Astiazarán joined European Sports Ministers

The Spanish Professional Football League (LFP) President José Luis Astiazarán attended the second session of the EU Sports Forum, organized by the European Commission, on the 20 April 2010, in Madrid.

The event was officially opened by the Spanish Prime-Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero. Astiazarán shared the centre stage with various European Union sports ministers as well as the Spanish Secretary of State for Sport Jaime Lissavetzky, the International Olympic Committee President, Jacques Rogge, the President of the European Club Association (ECA), Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, amongst others.

The high level debate, which began on Monday at the Municipal Congress Palace in the city's Campo de las Naciones, was conducted in co-operation with the Spanish Presidency of the EU and featured the first formal discussion regarding the role of sport in relation to the Lisbon Treaty.
