The board of the League Association has set the starting date for the 2010/11 season. The opening Friday game, which is traditionally hosted by the defending champions, is earmarked to take place on August 20th 2010.
“The international timetable set out by FIFA and UEFA, with the World Cup finals not concluding until well into July, has presented us with a very difficult task. We expressly regret the resultant long break in Bundesliga action, particularly in view of the fact that the 2009-10 league campaign finishes on the 8th of May”, League Association President Dr. Reinhard Rauball said.
