Antonio Matarrese was born on  4th July  1940 in Andria (Bari). He is married and he has 2 daughters. He is graduated in Business Administration and he is Certified Public Accountant. He is CEO of the S. Matarrese Plc Group. From 1976, for five Parliaments, MP of the Christian Democracy. During his long career in sport field he has held a great deal of important and prestigious positions:

President of the Italian Football League from March 1982 to October 1987; President of the Italian Football Association from 1987 to 1996; Member of the Organising Committee of the FIFA World Cup Italy ’90;UEFA Vice President from 1992 to 2002;

FIFA Vice President from 1994 to 2002;President of the Organising Committee of the Mediterranean Games Bari ’97;Deputy Vice President of the Italian Football League during the presidency of Adriano Galliani from 2002 to 2004; President of the TV-platform Gioco Calcio until January 2004; President of Unire from September 2004 to May 2005; Member of the EPFL Board of Directors from October ’07. On 8th of August 2006, after 19 years, he was newly elected President of the Italian Football League succeeding resigning president Adriano Galliani.
